Data Logging
The unique form factor and robust nature of Datakey portable memory products make them a perfect solution for embedded data logging applications, especially those in harsh environments. Log operational, performance and use data. Unlike SD cards and USB flash drives, the unique form factor of the RUGGEDrive™ memory devices discourage theft and provide a base level of security, as they won't plug directly into standard computer ports.
Secure Data Transfer
For secure data transfer applications, a DFX RUGGEDrive™ memory token functions just like an SD card but has additional features and capabilities not found in consumer cards. The product's unique form-factor means that it won’t plug directly into standard computer ports. Two adapters are offered for transferring data to a PC, one is read/write, while the other is read-only, preventing any changes from being made to the logged data on the token.

How secure is a non-standard form factor?
In most data logging applications that utilize a DFX RUGGEDrive memory token, the embedded system will have a Datakey SlimLine receptacle. While plugged into this receptacle, the RUGGEDrive token communicates with the host processor via SD or SPI. At some point, this logged data needs to get transferred to a PC. To adapt the proprietary shape of the DFX RUGGEDrive memory token so it will plug into a standard PC, a Datakey DFX PC adapter is used. There are two adapters to choose from (both plug into standard USB Type A ports).
- Read/Write DFX PC Adapter
Provides full read/write access to the DFX memory token, functioning like an SD card reader. - Read-Only DFX PC Adapter
Prevents modification or deletion of the data on the DFX memory token, only allowing the PC to read or copy the data.
