The Datakey video compares the amount of force it takes to make a series of SD cards non-functional. Three different brands of SD cards are compared, SanDisk, Samsung and Delkin Devices. Then a Datakey DFX RUGGEDrive memory token is put through the same test. The DFX memory token is functionally equivalent to an SD card, it simply comes in the more robust form factor.

This is the PDF version of the tri-fold Datakey brochure that provides an overview of the Datakey line of rugged portable memory products.

DFX PC Adapters, including the Read-Only DFX PC Adapter, had a Bill of Materials (BOM) error that resulted in two components being misplaced. Adapters purchased from April 2014 through February 2021 are impacted.

The 2Gbit NAND flash in NFX Managed-Memory and NFX-MSD memory tokens is no longer available. These products are now End of Life. Suggested replacements for the 2Gbit NFX models would be the 4Gbit NFX models.

This is the End-of-Life notice for the Datakey Parallel Key product line. Products include the KC16/64PCB and KCUPK receptacles (Keyceptacle products) and PKS-703 reader/writers. The notice includes last-time-buy information.

The memory IC that has been used in the Datakey 8 Mbit serial flash memory keys and tokens has gone obsolete. A replacement IC has been qualified and it is a drop-in replacement. ATEK engineering has updated two specifications in the Datakey SPI Flash Interface Specification document based on this change. See PDF for full details.

DFX RUGGEDrive™ memory tokens provide SD card functionality in a proprietary form factor that is more robust than the standard SD card and microSD card form factors. Internally, the DFX memory tokens use SD memory that is compliant to the SD specification. When the SD memory used in the DFX memory tokens goes end-of-life (EOL), ATEK qualifies a replacement SD memory device and updates our bill of material using our ISO 9001 engineering change order (ECO) process. Such a change recently occurred with the Datakey DFX4GB RUGGEDrive memory tokens. See PDF for full details.

PCN 20220331
31 March 2022
This product change notification (PCN) documents changes being made SST16Kb, SSX16Kb, SSB16Kb and SSP16Kb models of memory tokens. As a result of the ongoing supply chain challenges in the semiconductor industry, ATEK has qualified a second source for the 16 Kbit SPI EEPROM used in these tokens. Because there is no change to form, fit or function of these tokens, there will be no changes made the part numbers of these tokens. Tokens with date codes of 4 – 2 (corresponding to April 2022) and later may use either of the qualified ICs. See the PDF for full details.

UFX RUGGEDrive™ memory tokens provide USB flash drive functionality in a proprietary form factor that is more robust than traditional thumb drive designs that use standard USB connectors. Internally, the UFX memory tokens leverage SD memory that utilizes MLC NAND flash. When the SD memory used in the UFX memory tokens goes end-of-life (EOL), ATEK qualifies a replacement SD memory device and updates our bill of material using our ISO 9001 engineering change order (ECO) process. Such a change recently occurred with the Datakey UFX4GB RUGGEDrive memory tokens. See PDF for full details.

PCN 20220602
02 June 2022
This product change notification (PCN) documents the end of life (EOL) status of the Datakey NFX memory tokens. The EOL notice applies to both the Managed-Memory and Mass Storage Device versions of NFX tokens. The NFX family of tokens was launched in 2006 and is no longer sustainable. The EOL notice applies to standard products, custom products and accessories in the NFX family. See the PDF for full details.

PCN 20220223 Rev B
23 February 2022 (updated 12 July 2022)
This product change notification (PCN) documents changes being made to the DFX PC adapters. The USB controller IC used in DFX PC adapters has unexpectedly gone end-of-life (EOL). As a result, the standard (read/write) and read-only DFX PC adapters are hereby designated with EOL status. These adapters will be replaced with updated models that use a different USB controller IC. Because a new USB controller is being used, some USB features will be different on the new DFX PC adapters. See the PDF for full details.

PCN 20220207
07 February 2022
This product change notification (PCN) documents changes being made to the Industrial DFX family of RUGGEDrive memory tokens. The changes vary somewhat based on model but include: TLC NAND flash being used instead of MLC NAND, new Datakey logo, and the fixed-BOM feature becoming optional. See PDF for full details.

The fixed-BOM DFX4GB-I memory tokens, part numbers 611-0223-000A through 611-0223-008A are now end of life (EOL). The obsolescence of the internal SD memory has forced the change. The replacement part numbers are 611-0223-010A through 611-0223-018A. See PDF for full details.

PCN 20220204 Rev B
04 February 2022 (Updated 12 July 2022)
This product change notification (PCN) documents changes being made to the UFX family of RUGGEDrive memory tokens. The USB controller IC used in UFX RUGGEDrive memory tokens has unexpectedly gone end-of-life (EOL). As a result, all UFX tokens are hereby designated with EOL status. The line is being replaced by the UFX-I line, also known as the Industrial UFX line. Because a new USB controller is being used, some USB features will be different on the new UFX-I tokens. Other changes are also being introduced. See the PDF for full details.

Datakey SlimLine™ board-mount receptacles are now shipping in a new plastic tray that has been redesigned for improved use with pick-and-place machines. This Product Change Notification outlines the changes.

Datakey SlimLine™ panel‐mount receptacles that were formerly shipped in clear plastic trays will now be shipped in a corrugated box, with up to 25 receptacles shipping per box. This Product Change Notification outlines the changes.

The purpose of this policy is to inform you about the types of information we gather when you visit our website, how we may use that information, whether we disclose it to anyone, and the choices you have regarding our use of the information.

The "Product Selection and Identifying Guide" provides a table showing all of the Datakey portable memory product families. For each family, the tables states the memory type (EEPROM, NOR Flash, NAND Flash, etc.), serial interface and available capacities. For each entry, the corresponding form factor is also identified.

Each Datakey portable memory device has molded-in codes that identify:

Product Family
Memory Capacity
Supported Voltages
Date of Manufacture

The guide identifies where to find the codes and shows what each code means.

The bend angle of leads has been improved to be more coplanar with the bottom of the receptacle body. New models: SR4210SM, SR4220SM, SR4230SM are drop-in replacements for old models (going EOL): SR4210SMT, SR4220SMT, SR4230SMT.

This document explains the value proposition for Datakey portable memory products. These are the reasons our customers have been choosing to design-in Datakey products since 1976.
