This is the End-of-Life notice for the Datakey Parallel Key product line. Products include the KC16/64PCB and KCUPK receptacles (Keyceptacle products) and PKS-703 reader/writers. The notice includes last-time-buy information.

The memory IC that has been used in the Datakey 8 Mbit serial flash memory keys and tokens has gone obsolete. A replacement IC has been qualified and it is a drop-in replacement. ATEK engineering has updated two specifications in the Datakey SPI Flash Interface Specification document based on this change. See PDF for full details.

DFX RUGGEDrive™ memory tokens provide SD card functionality in a proprietary form factor that is more robust than the standard SD card and microSD card form factors. Internally, the DFX memory tokens use SD memory that is compliant to the SD specification. When the SD memory used in the DFX memory tokens goes end-of-life (EOL), ATEK qualifies a replacement SD memory device and updates our bill of material using our ISO 9001 engineering change order (ECO) process. Such a change recently occurred with the Datakey DFX4GB RUGGEDrive memory tokens. See PDF for full details.

PCN 20220331
31 March 2022
This product change notification (PCN) documents changes being made SST16Kb, SSX16Kb, SSB16Kb and SSP16Kb models of memory tokens. As a result of the ongoing supply chain challenges in the semiconductor industry, ATEK has qualified a second source for the 16 Kbit SPI EEPROM used in these tokens. Because there is no change to form, fit or function of these tokens, there will be no changes made the part numbers of these tokens. Tokens with date codes of 4 – 2 (corresponding to April 2022) and later may use either of the qualified ICs. See the PDF for full details.

UFX RUGGEDrive™ memory tokens provide USB flash drive functionality in a proprietary form factor that is more robust than traditional thumb drive designs that use standard USB connectors. Internally, the UFX memory tokens leverage SD memory that utilizes MLC NAND flash. When the SD memory used in the UFX memory tokens goes end-of-life (EOL), ATEK qualifies a replacement SD memory device and updates our bill of material using our ISO 9001 engineering change order (ECO) process. Such a change recently occurred with the Datakey UFX4GB RUGGEDrive memory tokens. See PDF for full details.

PCN 20220602
02 June 2022

This document explains the value proposition for Datakey portable memory products. These are the reasons our customers have been choosing to design-in Datakey products since 1976.

The UFX PC Adapter provides a convenient way to read data from or write data to UFX RUGGEDrive™ memory tokens using a PC. The adapter plugs into USB type A ports. When a UFX token is then inserted, it appears to the computer as a USB Mass Storage device (i.e. a USB flash drive). No special drivers should be needed.

Datakey UFX memory tokens deliver USB flash drive functionality in a more robust and secure form factor than consumer flash drives. The tokens are available in capacities from 4 GB to 64 GB and utilize a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface. Each token contains a unique serial number which can be used for token identification or for encrypting on-board data.
